Monterey Bay Urology Associates has provided state-of-the-art urologic care to patients in Santa Cruz County for the past 15 years. Our three urologists are Board Certified by The American Board of Urology and are members of The American Urological Association. They have each continued to train in the latest surgical techniques so that our patients can receive the best urologic care available in their home town. We have two offices, in Santa Cruz and Watsonville, and our office staff are able to schedule patients at either office at our patient's convenience. Please inform us if you have any special needs so that we can serve you better. We strive to see all of our appointments on time, but we also try to give each patient as much time as they need, and treat emergencies if necessary, so we ask for your patience and understanding if we are running a little late or need to re-schedule. We are very pleased to have you as a patient of ours, and look forward to our chance to treat you.
For your first visit to our offices there are a number of forms which need to be completed, so plan to arrive 15-30 minutes prior to your appointment. Or you can download most of the forms and fill them out at home before you come to the office. We need a copy of all insurance cards that are current so that we can bill your insurance for your visit, and please inform us at future visits if your insurance coverage changes. If you have an HMO insurance, Medi-Cruz, or Medi-Cal coverage then you probably need a referral to see us, so we will need to contact your primary care doctor and obtain the referral before your visit. We also need a summary of your medical history, including a complete list of your current medications. If you don't have a list then you can bring the bottles to the office for your visit, but a list in a purse or wallet is a very good thing to have anyway in case of an emergency!
We ask all of our patients to enter into an agreement with us to use the California arbitration system instead of the jury trial system for any suits over quality of medical care. The California arbitration system is very similar to the jury system except that there is a panel of arbitrators, usually retired judges, instead of a jury. Each side uses their own lawyers and presents evidence just like they would in a standard court trial. The advantages of the arbitration system to the patient and our practice are decreased legal costs, faster settlements, and privacy. If you have any questions about the agreement we are happy to discuss it with you at your visit.
